John Palmer was born in Adelaide and attended Adelaide School of Art and Burnside Printing Group before moving to Melbourne where he attended “Berice Ireland” School of Art at Glen Waverley, Melbourne School of Art, RMIT Fashion Drawing, Miram O’Pat School of Art and Nubar A Parkian Drawing classes.
After Melbourne he travelled to Sydney and Queensland, then on to New Zealand. From there John went on a travel/study trip to USA, Europe, England, Hong Kong, China, Canada and the Philippines where his work can be found in many private collections.
On returning to Adelaide he was part of the Tea Tree Gully Art Group where he won several awards. Over the years he has won many art awards and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions such as Greenhill Gallery solo show, SALA, PAC Art Show, Hughes Gallery, Artistic Licence and several regional galleries. Recently John has exhibited in group exhibitions at THE geoffrey stapleton GALLERY and had his self portrait selected in the Portrait Prize for SA Society of Arts as well as 1 merit award for “Winter Blues”.
